Carol Ann Denger White, 68, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. Born in Hampton, Iowa, on May 13, 1957, to Mary Ann and Ray Daniel “Dan” Denger, Carol lived a life filled with faith, music, and love.
From an early age, Carol discovered the joy of music and could play the piano by ear. Whether sitting at the keys or lifting her voice in song, she poured her heart into every note. Growing up in Dows, Iowa, she eagerly took part in every musical program her high school offered.
Carol pursued her education in Iowa, earning her associate’s degree from North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC). After graduation, she spent a short time in Texas before moving to Lake Charles, Louisiana, to be closer to her sister, where she made her home for the rest of her life. Throughout the years, she worked in a variety of roles and was always remembered for her kindness and the friendships she built along the way.
For many years, Carol was a cherished member of the contemporary choir at University United Methodist Church and was an active member of the Bible study Circle-Up. Even after making Resthaven her home for more than 20 years, she continued to bless those around her with her gift of music, playing heartfelt renditions of Amazing Grace on the piano and touching countless lives.
She was also a proud member of the Eastern Star. She found delight in the simple joys of life - reading a good book, watching her beloved Hallmark Channel, playing cards and Yahtzee, and most of all, spending time with the family she adored. She was a girly girl at heart, who loved having her nails painted, wearing jewelry, trying new lipstick colors, and getting her hair done and she especially loved if something sparkled or had glitter. She was also the one who offered the prayer before family meals, carrying on the family tradition of ending each blessing with the words, “And God bless the cook.” Her laughter, her radiant smile, and her unwavering faith in Christ were gifts she shared freely with everyone she met.
Carol was first married to David Franklin, and together they were blessed with a daughter, Jennifer. She later married Carroll David White, her beloved husband of 21 years, and together they built a life filled with love and faith. They made their home in Moss Bluff, where they enjoyed the simple joys of everyday life. With their cat Malcolm by their side, they spent many happy hours cross-stitching, creating handmade cards to brighten others’ days, and weaving baskets. Together, they even shared an early morning paper route for several years, faithfully delivering newspapers side by side. Carol was also the keeper of dates, faithfully remembering every birthday and anniversary, and always sending a card to let others know she was thinking of them. Their shared creativity and generosity touched everyone around them.
She cherished her family deeply and is survived by her mother, Mary Ann Denger; her daughter, Jennifer Loomis and husband Shane; her grandchildren, Ethan and Bree Loomis; her sister, Diane Mason and husband Larry; her niece, Meredith Melancon and husband Eric; her nephew, Brandon Mason and wife Meredith; and her great-nieces and nephews, Karly and Kacy Melancon, and Mccoy and Reed Mason.
Carol is lovingly reunited in Heaven with her husband, Carroll David White, and with her father, Ray “Dan” Denger.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Carol’s life on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles, with Rev. Angela Bulhof officiating. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. as loved ones come together to honor her memory. Carol will be laid to rest at Old Ritchie Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to University United Methodist Church, so that Carol’s love for faith and music may continue to bless and inspire others.
Carol will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her smile and kindness, and the way she made everyone feel welcome. Her greatest joy was her family, and her love will live on through the generations she so dearly cherished. Though she is gone from our sight, her gentle spirit and gift of music will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew her.
