Carol Young Wegman

Carol Ann Young Wegman, 63, of Lake Charles passed away Saturday, August 10, 2013 in a local healthcare facility.

Mrs. Wegman was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. She was a graduate of LaGrange High School, worked over twenty years at McNeese State University for Dr. Waldel Burge until his retirement at which time, she transferred to Financial Aid administration. Mrs. Wegman enjoyed many years of Mardi Gras celebration with the Krewe of Nobless. She also enjoyed traveling throughout the states, Colorado and West Virginia being her favorites, Germany and Switzerland being her favorites internationally. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy, as she took great pride in caring for them, following their activities and sporting events and most importantly, being their Memaw. She was a charter member of St. Luke Simpson Methodist Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of twenty-five years, William Preston Wegman of Lake Charles; her mother, Elaine Holden Young of Lake Charles; two sons, Gary Rock and wife Hollie and Todd Rock and wife Vicky, both of Lake Charles; four grandchildren, Kirsten Sonnier, Payten Rock, Bayleigh Rock and Chase Rock, all of Lake Charles and one brother, Gene Alan Young of Bois D'Arc, MO.

She was preceded in death by her father, Butler Alex Young.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 17, 2013 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend John Black will officiate. Inurnment in Reed Cemetery near Basile will be at a later date. Visitation Saturday will be from 9:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
