Carolyn Marie Shelton (Batten)

Mrs. Carolyn Marie Shelton, 80, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2025 in Lake Charles, Louisiana with her family by her side. Carolyn was born in Asheboro, North Carolina, raised in Jackson, Tennessee and as an adult lived in Kentucky, Mississippi and Louisiana. She was a longtime member of Victory Baptist Church of Lake Charles, LA where she was a member of The Silver Saints. Carolyn was a 30 plus year retiree from Walmart.

Carolyn will be missed by numerous friends and family. She never met a stranger and loved to talk to everyone. Her family was her greatest treasure and all who knew her loved her. She collected pictures and shared them generously. She also loved taking care of her plants and her precious dog Hershey.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband Jimmy Noel Shelton, her mother, Vivian Marie Bray OGuinn, her father, Robert Alexander Batten, her stepfather, Robert Lee Bray, her brothers, Jere Lee Batten, Tommy Marcus Duncan, her sister, Deborah Lee McClatchen, and her niece, Tracie Dionne Allemand.

Carolyn, who was the Matriarch of our family is survived by her daughter, Sheila Marie Shelton (Cisneros) of Baytown, TX; her grandson, Houston Cisneros (Izzy); her great-granddaughter, Elise Marie Cisneros all of Conroe, TX; her son, Robert Noel Shelton (Christine Whalen); her Grandsons, Parker Shelton and Reese Shelton, both of East Alton, IL; her sisters, Betty Jean Allemand (Carroll) of Grand Isle, LA, Martha Elaine Musselman (Gene) of Urbandale, IA, Judy Ann Knox (Kerry) of Jackson, TN and Robbie June Brown (David) of Creekwood Pass, TX; her bother, Bobby Batten (Dorris) of North Carolina; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. All will miss our beloved Carolyn.

Her funeral services are scheduled as follows:

11:00 AM, Friday, December 5, 2025 in the chapel of Victory Baptist Church, 7515 Gulf Highway, Lake Charles, LA.

1:00 pm, Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home, 403 E. Baltimore St., Jackson, TN; Burial to follow in Providence Cemetery on Lower Brownsville Rd., Jackson, TN. Rev. Wayne Dartez will officiate all services.
