Iowa – Carolyn Marie (Manuel) Vest, born in Elton, daughter of the late Marius and Eve (Darbonne) Manuel, passed away after a lengthy illness, surrounded by family on Thursday, July 07, 2022.
Carolyn is survived by her children, Sue DeRouen (Ken) of Bell City, Gay Talbot (Tommy) of Iowa, Clay Vest (Jennifer) of Iowa, and Stan Vest (Johnise) of Gillis; brother, Herman Manuel (Pat); grandchildren, Heather DeRouen, T. J. DeRouen, Scott Talbot (Jane), Byron Talbot (Rumila), Kane Vest, Logan Vest, Dani Cooley (Seth), and Sadie Jo Vest; great-grandchildren, Rej Talbot, and Bryce Vasseur.
She is preceded in death by her parents; spouse, Richard “Dicky” Vest, sisters, Verian Siblle, and Lana Grout.
A graduate of Iowa High School, Carolyn was very active in her community. She was a member of the garden club, and the Iowa Sr. Center. She was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church, where she was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Daughter Court # 1377. Carolyn loved dancing and socializing with everyone. She always had a warm smile to greet you with and made you feel at home in her presence. Carolyn worked at the Clinic for many years, now known as the Lake Charles Medical and Surgical Center.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 10 a.m. in St. Raphael Catholic Church. Burial of cremains will follow in Lacassine Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa.
