It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carrie Marie Andrus Vaussine, a beloved mother, sister, and friend, who departed this life on August 1, 2026, at the age of 69. Born on January 17, 1957, in Jennings, Louisiana, Carrie was a cherished member of her community, known for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family and profession.
Carrie graduated from Bell City High School in 1975 before furthering her education at McNeese State University, where she earned an associate degree in computer information systems and a bachelor's degree in general studies. Her commitment to education extended beyond her own studies as she taught at Sowela and Unitech Training Academy for many years, inspiring countless students. She later found her calling as a medical coder at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, where her meticulous nature and caring spirit made a significant impact on the lives of those she worked with.
A lifelong Catholic, Carrie found solace in her faith, drawing strength and inspiration from her beliefs. A devoted mother, she is survived by her daughter, Cassie Ramirez, and her son, Cade Vaussine, who will carry her legacy of love and compassion into their own lives. Carrie is also survived by her brother, Aaron Andrus, and his wife, Jill, who will remember her fondly.
Carrie's passions extended beyond her professional life. She cherished her fur babies, finding joy in their companionship. In her leisure time, she enjoyed mowing the grass, planting beautiful flowers, and relishing quiet moments on her porch with a cup of coffee. A collector of antiques, Carrie found beauty in the stories behind each piece, reflecting her appreciation for history and craftsmanship.
To honor her life and the love she shared, a gathering of friends will be held at Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa on Friday, August 14, 2026, beginning at 5:00 PM. A Rosary service will follow at 6:30 PM, leading into a memorial service at 7:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to come together to share their memories, celebrate Carrie's life, and find comfort in one another during this difficult time.
Carrie Marie Andrus Vaussine will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends. May she rest in peace.
Carrie was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Jeanette Andrus; her brother, Michael Andrus.
