Carroll Moore

July 30, 1928 — April 11, 2017

Carroll Anthony Moore, 88, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2017.  Carroll was born July 30, 1928 in Mermentau, LA.  He was one of eight children to Dave Moore and Maggie Fontenot.  Carroll attended school in Mermentau and Estherwood.  He also served in the United States Army Corp of Engineers from 1948-1952, attended diesel mechanic school and was stationed in Hanau, Germany.  Carroll was first employed by Schlumberger for 15 years and was a retired millwright from Alcoa.  He lived on Vine Street from 1969 until the time of his death and was a member of Maplewood Church of Christ for nearly 50 years.  Carroll enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and shrimping. 

Carroll is survived by his children, Robert Moore of Katy, TX, Donald Moore of Baytown, TX and Melanie Bennett of Sulphur; six grandchildren, Emily Bennett, Meghan Bennett, Margaret Hope, Victoria Moore, Alexandra Niemeyer, and Sandra Brinkerhoff; and his siblings, Helen Strawn of Mandeville and Larry Moore and Shirah Kilpatrick both of Jennings.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Rose Jane Prather Moore and three sisters, Betty Payne, Evelyn Simon and Glenda Conner. 

Services for Carroll will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 11 AM at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home in Sulphur with Brother Brian Spicer officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Jennings, LA.  The family will receive friends on Monday, April 17, 2017 from 5-9 PM at the funeral home and will resume on Tuesday from 9 AM until the time of service.
