Cary was born in Hayes on March 26, 1948 to the late Bessie Fontenot and Ivy Schexnider. She worked as a nurse’s aide. She loved to fish and go camping, watch the Saints, sew, and sing in church.
Survivors are her husband of 50 years, Curtis Deshotel, Sr., son, Curtis Deshotel, Jr. and wife, Carolyn; daughters, Angela Carroll, Stephanie Ellender, and husband Charles, and Mary Fontenot, and husband Curtis; brothers, Keith Derouen and wife, Pamela and Kenneth Derouen and wife, Tammy; sisters, Essie Derouen; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren all of Hayes. She is preceded in death by her mother, Bessie Fontenot; father, Ivy Schexnider; daughter, Mandy Deshotel and son-in-law, Robert J. Carroll.
Visitation begins Sunday, September 11, 2016 in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. and resumes in Hayes First Baptist Church on Monday, September 12, 2016 from 8:00 a.m. until time of service. Funeral services are Monday, September 12, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Hayes Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home.
