Casey Marie (Sonnier) Finley

Casey Marie (Sonnier) Finley, 34, passed away unexpectedly on March 12, 2017. She was born on April 20, 1982 in Lake Charles, Louisiana and lived most of her life in Iowa, Louisiana.
She was a graduate of Lacassine High School and held a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from McNeese State University. She was currently teaching 2nd grade at Fenton Elementary.
Casey is survived by her husband of 8 years, Luke “Billy” Finley; parents, Rev. Kenneth and Betty (Cox) Sonnier; brother, Chad and wife, Aimee (Myers) Sonnier; grandmother, Glenda Cox; nieces, nephews, and many beloved family members.
Casey was a wonderful cook and loved trying and sharing new recipes. She and husband, Billy, also loved to garden together and travel. She always loved being in the water and had a passion for life and adventure. She loved family, home, learning new things and teaching her students how to enjoy learning.
She had been teaching for almost 10 years, serving East Beauregard Elementary, Lake Arthur Elementary, Fenton Elementary, and Hampshire-Fannett in Texas.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday, March 20, 2017 in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home in Iowa. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with a graveside service to follow in Cox Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home. Rev. E. J. McCann and Rev. Robert Murray will co-officiate the service.
