Charles Allen Barnes, Sr.

December 8, 1939 — March 19, 2016

Charles Allen Barnes, Sr., 76, of Lake Charles passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016 in the comfort of his home.

 

Mr. Barnes was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. He was a graduate of Lake Charles High School. He was formerly the Vice President of Data Processing at First National Bank and retired, Senior Manager, with over thirty years of service with Lyondale Chemical, formerly Olin Corporation. He was a member of YMBC, DPMA.  Mr. Barnes enjoyed woodworking and was known for his engineering ideas and meticulous organizational skills. He loved to ride with his fellow members the of GGRA, Gold Wing Road Rider Association, Chapter J. Mr. Barnes was an active member of Cross Roads Church in Moss Bluff where he was an Armor Bearer. He took great pride in serving as an active member as an usher, Sunday school teacher, men's prayer groups and fellowship, through the years with many churches; the Gideon's International, St. Margaret Catholic Church, First Methodist Church of Lake Charles, Glad Tidings Assembly of God and Cross Roads Church. He was also part of the Restoration team and Order of St. Luke Healing. Mr. Barnes will be most remembered for his love of family and his faith.

 

He leaves to honor his memory, one son, Charles Allen Barnes, Jr. and wife Debbie of Lake Charles; two daughters, Agatha Lynn Barnes of League City, TX and Patricia Reneé Rozas and husband Danny of Moss Bluff; one brother, Patrick Hill Barnes and wife Lisa Rose of Ashville, NC; five grandchildren, Brooke, Emily and Ashley Rozas and Madison and Mason Barnes; nephew, Craig Barnes and wife Susan of Memphis, TN and companion and dear friend, Alice Nester of Lake Charles.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Percy and Glynda Hill Barnes.

 

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, March 24, 2016 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Terry Ardizzone will officiate. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation Wednesday will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue Thursday from 8:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
