Charles Blanchard

February 6, 1953 — November 15, 2025

Charles Gerald Blanchard, 72, of Sulphur, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025, after bravely facing bvFTD. Born on February 6, 1953, in Midland, Texas, Charles was the son of Johnny and Marie (Pettyjohn) Blanchard.

Charles graduated from Sulphur High School in 1971 and went on to earn degrees from McNeese State University—first in Law Enforcement in 1975, and later in Electrical Technology in 1980. He built a distinguished career as a Senior Electrical and Instrumentation Designer, working throughout the Lake Charles area, as well as in Canada and on the Alaskan slope. One of his proudest achievements was mentoring young designers, many of whom went on to successful careers of their own.

Charles was a loving husband, father, Pops, son-in-law, uncle, brother-in-law, friend and mentor to many. He was commonly known by other names; Sarge, Paw, One-track, and Bubba to the people that loved him.

He loved his sons and granddaughter with everything he had. In his early years travel was his passion; first with his sons and later with his granddaughter, he wanted to share his love of travel with them. At the site of something beautiful he would always have them stand, take a picture in their mind and say, “now save it”. There was never down time or resting on vacation with dad. We would always hear “let’s go, we are burning daylight lots to see and do”! Charles also planned many trips with family and friends, always looking for the best deal and adventure (IYKYK). His love of travel never dimmed and was blessed to travel throughout the U.S, Europe, and the Caribbean. In his later years Charles taught himself many woodworking skills. He would spend hours in his shop, cutting, sanding, staining and turning wood. Often when asked what he was making, he would say “I’m not sure yet just have to wait and see how it ends up.” His creations are treasured by many.

Those left to celebrate his life, treasure the memories and miss him every day are his wife of 49 years, Joselyn Fazzio Blanchard, his sons, Jon Anthony and Eric Nicholas Blanchard, his granddaughter Kaylee Renee Blanchard, his brothers–in–law and sisters-in-law Lawrence and Maria (Fazzio) Lupo, Anthony and Carmel (Hildago) Fazzio, Gus and Debbie (Babineaux) Fazzio and multiple nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents Johnny and Marie (Pettyjohn) Blanchard and Mother-in-law and Father-in-law Tony and Gussie (Amadeo) Fazzio.

The family would like to thank the staff at Stonebridge for the care given to Charles over the past year. A special thanks to Zach and Marcus who cared for him these last few months, they hold a special place in our hearts. Thank you to St. Joseph Hospice, especially his nurse Monica and caregivers Desirae and Makenzie.
