It is with a heavy heart that the family of Charles Mark Duff announces his passing on October 15, 2016 at the age of 57.
Mr. Charlie, as he was affectionately called, was a native of Groton, Connecticut. He loved to tinker on small motors, spend time with family and friends, and always ready to help anyone in need. He enjoyed playing his harmonica and guitar and spending time at the camp on the river. Mr. Charlie spent 38 years in the fire service with Belle Chase and Ward 6 fire departments. His last 22 years of service were with the Westlake Fire Department, where he was known as “Papa Duff”. He will be greatly missed by his fellow firefighters.
Preceding Mr. Charlie in death are his parents, Charles and Lucille Bebee Duff and a sister, Mary Beth. Those left to cherish and share his memories are his children, Jonathan Levi Duff and wife Tara; Kristina Rene' Jean and husband Preston; of Westlake; and Christopher Williams Duff and wife Krystal, Moss Bluff; seven grandchildren; sisters, Judy Duff and Shannon Gary and husband Randy, Lafayette; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at 9:00 AM Saturday October 22, 2016 at the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home, concluding with a Celebration of Mr. Charlie’s life at 11:00 AM. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
Mr. Charlie was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. The world is a sadder place with his leaving, but heaven just got a little more interesting.
