Charles Darwin Richey

Charles Richey, 69, of Westlake, LA died Tuesday, September 6, 2016 in his residence.

Chuck was born on March 16, 1947 to Forrest and Eunice Richey in Dequincy, LA. Chuck was an active member of the McNeese Cowboy Club as well as several other booster clubs. He enjoyed cooking, traveling to McNeese games, being around family and friends, and never met a stranger. Chuck was one of the most genuinely involved people who supported McNeese in all sport activities, while traveling to away games as far as Montana and Nebraska. He shared an extreme love for all of his family. Chuck supported his fellow veterans in many ways. He proudly served our country in the U. S. Army. He actively supported several Veteran Organizations. Chuck was a founding member of the World War II Museum in New Orleans, LA and contributed to the Civil War Trust. He was also a lifetime member of the NRA Association.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 43 years, Paula Anderson Richey; two children, Julie Richey Wall and husband Darrell of Lufkin, TX and Chad Richey and wife Theresa of Lufkin, TX; two brothers, Glynn Richey and wife Billie of Ragley, LA, Jerry Richey and wife Freda of Ponca City, OK; and one sister, June Woy of Ladysmith, VA. Pops was extremely proud of his nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one son, Shane Richey.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday, September 9, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Visitation will resume from 8:00 AM until time of service Friday at Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will be at Westlake Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the McNeese Cowboy Club.
