Charles A. “T-Man” Jackson, Jr., a proud lifelong resident of Lake Charles, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on March 27, 1948, to Charles A. Jackson, Sr., and Virginia Trahan Jackson, Charles was raised in Lake Charles and shaped by his community. He attended St. Margaret Catholic School, and graduated from LaGrange High School in 1966. He went on to attend McNeese State University, where he juggled studies with one of his favorite jobs of all time, working as a security guard at the girls’ dormitory.
Charles was a talented athlete and a proud pitcher on the baseball field. Off the field, he had a love for fishing that often lured him away from class and into the peace of the water, a passion that stayed with him throughout his life.
In 1968, Charles answered the call to serve his country, joining the United States Air Force. He served honorably during the Vietnam War until 1972, returning home to Lake Charles to complete his degree in Horticulture from McNeese in 1976.
Over the years, Charles held a variety of jobs, each reflecting his diverse skills and tireless work ethic. From Mud Engineer, to Lab Technician, to his favorite role as an aircraft mechanic for Boeing, he eventually retired as an Operator from Georgia Gulf at age 62. Wherever he worked, he brought humor, intelligence, and an unshakable commitment to getting the job done right.
Charles married the love of his life, Susan, in 1982 after rekindling their childhood friendship at a crawfish boil in 1980. Together they shared 43 wonderful years filled with laughter, love, and lasting memories.
Those who knew Charles will remember him as witty, sharp, and never afraid of a good debate. He was a character in the best sense, full of life, quick with a joke, and always ready for a good time. He loved to fish, play golf, and take pride in his garden and yard. But above all, he loved his family deeply, especially his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
Charles leaves behind a legacy of strength, humor, and love. His memory will live on in every cast of a fishing line, every family laugh, and every moment spent together in joy.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 43 years, Susan LaRocque Jackson; his son, Todd Jackson (Jenny) of Baton Rouge, LA; his grandchildren, Liza Jackson of Oxford, MS, and Charlie Jackson of Baton Rouge, LA; his sisters, Kathy Alley (Paul) of Westlake, LA, Ginger Sonnier of Westlake, LA, and Becky Gray (Ron) of Moss Bluff, LA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
His funeral will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 in the Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles Chapel with Father Joshua Page serving as Celebrant. Inurnment will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the start of the service, with a rosary being recited at 1:00 PM.
