Charles Jernigan

Charles Thomas Jernigan, 68, Sulphur, LA, passed away on June 18, 2025, due to health complications.

He is preceded in death by his parents Charles Ward Jernigan and Tommylee Racha Jernigan.

Charlie is survived by his 2 sisters: Leesa Crites, her husband Leon Crites and Brenda Reed; 2 daughters: Kristi Jernigan and Kristyl Rios; 5 grandchildren: Joseph Jernigan, Landen Swire, Makana Jernigan, Trenton Dean, Braxton Jernigan and two special members of the family Conner Bates that he considered his grandson and Katelynn Morris that he considered his granddaughter; 5 nieces: Leesa Barnett and family, Rachale Points and family, Amelia Thompson & family, Jodee Reed, Kayleena Qualls & family.

Charlie was employed with CITGO Petroleum Corporation for 33 years. He started his career with CITGO on September 3, 1991, at CITGO Pipeline in Lake Charles as a pipeliner, then moved to Florida as an Assistant Manager at the products terminal.

From there he moved back to Lake Charles where he completed his tenure with CITGO as Products Terminal Manager.

He enjoyed taking his grandkids to their sporting events & Citgo company activities. He enjoyed watching football, NASCAR, basketball & baseball games. During nice weather, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle whether it was by himself or with his grandkids. He was also collector of a variety of different items.

He was a no nonsense man with a big heart and he left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him. He will be missed more than words can say.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 9:30-12 PM at Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur. Charles will be buried at a later date in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
