Charles D. King of Sulphur, LA, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026. He was born in Arkansas on April 11, 1949. Charles served in the Army proudly; he was a decorated Vietnam War veteran including a Purple Heart. He served in 101st Airborne (Screaming Eagles). After the Army, he spent many years at Strategic Petroleum Reserve. He was loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle.
Charles is preceded in death by his daughter Karen King, his father, Lestel Charles King; mother, Jessie Marie King Burdette; stepfather, George Burdette; brothers, Paul Wayne King, Dale Lee King; stepbrother, Richard Burdette; sisters, Violet Marie Bisbee, and Darlene King.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey King; his grandson, Tyler King (Keyle); his great-grandsons, Daken and Jameson; his sister, Sue Price; nieces, Cindy Price and Amanda Wright; stepsisters, Jana (Terry), and Debbie (Steve) Henson. He also helped raise many kids, including Clarissa Laughlin (BobbyJo), Shanundell Powell, Trevor Porter (Nicole) and Clifton Alexander (Sarah). He was also considered family by so many other
Visitation for Charles will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 12-2 PM with a rosary prayed at 2 PM at Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur. Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur.
