Charles E. McGee, Sr, 84, of Westlake, passed away on Monday April 14, 2025 in Lake Charles.
Charles was a native of Eunice and a longtime resident of Lake Charles. Following his honorable service to our country in the United Sates Marine Corps, Charles served the citizens of Lake Charles as a law enforcement officer, retiring as chief of detectives. His career of faithful service began in September, 1968 as a Patrol Officer, being promoted to Substitute Sargent in September, 1969 and was promoted to a Sargent in January, 1970. He held this title until October of 1979, when he was promoted to Lieutenant, and on 1981 was promoted to Chief of Detectives. Charles retired in 1984, having a full career protecting and serving the citizens of Lake Charles.
When not working and after his retirement, Charles enjoyed spending his time fishing and hunting. He loved to serve and entertain his family and friends by cooking and hosting gatherings that were always “over the top”. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Police, American Legion Post 407 in Westlake and of the Baptist faith.
Preceding Charles in death are his parents, Burtie H and Faye Meyers McGee and sisters Stella Mae LeJeune and Bobbie Ann Young. Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 57 years, Lottie “Mickey” Miller, sons, Charles E. McGee, Jr and Chad McGee (Brandy); grandchildren, Chad Ryan McGee, Emmy McGee and Keely Bertrand; sister, Bonnie Lee Bertrand as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family of the heart.
A gathering of family and friends will be at Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles on Thursday, April 17, 2025 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM with a celebration of his life to begin at 2:00 PM. Pastor Brent Keating will officiate services.
