Dwight Reed, 78, of Bell City passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025 in a local hospital.
Mr. Reed was born on March 28, 1947 in Jennings, LA and moved to Bell City where he was a Bell City High School graduate. Following graduation, he served honorably with the 25th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1968 during the Vietnam War. His bravery and dedication to his country remained a lasting point of pride throughout his life. Following his military service, he built a remarkable 36-year career with Citgo as a Marine Cargo Inspector.
Outside of work, Mr. Reed found joy and peace on the water—he loved boating, fishing, and bowling. The Florida beaches became a beloved vacation destination where he created countless lasting memories with family.
A man of deep faith and a lifelong member of the Catholic Church, Mr. Reed lived by a nurturing, giving spirit. He was the embodiment of joie de vivre—a zest for life that was contagious. His sense of humor, warmth, and compassion left a mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Above all, he was devoted to his family. As a single father, he selflessly raised his two daughters and played an active role in the lives of his three grandsons. He was also the primary caretaker for his beloved mother, reflecting his lifelong commitment to placing the needs of others before his own.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife, Lynette Anselem Reed; daughters, Kristen Reed and Kim Guillot (Eric); step sons, Larry Wright (Rhonda), Josh Wright (Kellie), and Will Wright (Savannah); sister, Connie Addison; grandchildren, Kollin Dufour, Kole Reed, Keaton Fontenot, Cara, Evan, AJ, and Willow Wright; and a great grandchild, Hayes Reed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louise and Buster Hayes and his father, Johnny Reed.
