Charles Mark Rosteet, born in Lake Charles on November 12, 1953, son of the late Roger and Lillian Authement Rosteet, passed away surrounded by his loving family on, May 15, 2025, at the age of seventy-one.
Charles graduated from Lake Charles High School and served in the United States Army. During his early years, he enjoyed camping, dirt biking, working cattle and competing in rodeos. He was taught a hard day’s work at an early age, working in the oil and refinery industries, and in his later years, as a corrections officer. Retiring from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office after sixteen years of service. Charles enjoyed coaching his children’s sports teams when they were young, family vacations and always passing a good time with family and the many friends he made along the way. Being an avid reader, he especially loved his weekly visits, picking with the ladies at the Hayes Library. He loved everything outdoors, fishing, hunting, spending time by the campfire at the deer camp in Mississippi, along with dove hunting in his backyard with his brother Scott. But what Charles loved the most was spending time with his children and grandchildren. Charles was kind, caring and would not hesitate to help anyone in need. He had a strong relationship with God, which helped him find peace within the uncertainty of his diagnosis.
He is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Paula Zaunbrecher Rosteet; children, Charles Joseph Rosteet, Allison Rosteet Toups (Aaron), Kathryn Rosteet Hebert (Jared); brothers, Fred Rosteet, Sidney Rosteet (Cathy), Scott Rosteet (Jane), Jerry Rosteet (Donna); grandchildren: Hunter Toups (Kallie), Cadyn LeBert, Payton LeBert, Ryleigh Toups, Madeline Toups; great granddaughter, Leighton Toups; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins
He is preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Lillian Rosteet, brothers, Conway Rosteet, and Roger John Rosteet.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa on Friday, May 23, 2025 at 2 p.m. A visitation of friends and family will begin in the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. As per his request, his cremation has been entrusted to Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa, with a private graveside service at a later date.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the compassion and exceptional care for Charles, which he received from Harbor Hospice, his Doctors, the wonderful nurses of the Lake Charles Memorial Hospital Chemo Bay and Second Floor Tower, with special thanks to his two favorite nurses, Ava & Ingrid.
