Charlotte Marie Wilridge, born in Lafayette, Louisiana, on March 6, 1966, the daughter of Percy and Jenny (Citizen) Wilridge, passed away in her residence on Sunday, March 27, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 56.
Charlotte, a graduate of Washington Marion, attended the University of Lafayette, and was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She was an excellent cook, especially gumbo, loved to eat crawfish, and enjoyed dancing. But most of all, being with her family brought her much joy.
She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, George and Lula Citizen; paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Frances Wilridge; aunt, Vanessa Citizen; uncles, Francis Citizen, George Citizen, Jr., Lawrence Wilridge, and Vorise Wilridge.
Charlotte is survived by her parents, Percy Wilridge, and Jenny (Citizen) Wilridge; son, Jocoby Wilridge (Brooke); sisters, Clarissa Daniels (John), Cassandra Wilridge; companion of over 20 years, John “Dewey” Johnson, Jr.; grandchildren, Layla Watson, Jayden Wilridge, Tatum Wilridge; nieces, Destinee Daniels, Aaliyah Daniels; nephews, Charles Wilridge, Marcus Malveaux, John Daniels, III; great niece, Paisley Wilridge; great nephew, Nasir Abney, and godchild, Mallory Joseph.
A Mass of Christian burial is Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Rev. Wayne LeBleu, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Combre Memorial Park under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation is in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
