Cheryl Lee Gros

Cheryl Lee Melancon Gros, 79, of Sulphur, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2025.

She was born on April 12, 1946, in Fenton, Louisiana, to James and Helen Melancon. Cheryl graduated from Sulphur High School in 1964 and, in 1965, married the love of her life, Richard O. Gros. Together they shared 60 beautiful years of marriage. She later earned her cosmetology license and spent more than 40 years doing what she loved—making others feel beautiful.

Cheryl is survived by her devoted husband, Richard Olan Gros; her three children, Danette Hope Gros of California, Sean Eric Gros of Oklahoma, and Chelsea Gros Boudreaux (and husband Carl J. Boudreaux) of Lake Charles; and her two adored grandchildren, Alexandra Danielle Gros of California and Alex Sebastian Boudreaux of Lake Charles.

She shared a special bond with her sisters, Sandy “Baby” Peacock and Jennifer Walker, as well as with her cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services for Cheryl will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 10:30 AM at St. Theresa Catholic Church with Father Sibi Kunninu, M.S. officiating. Burial will follow at 3 PM at LeBleu Cemetery in Fenton, LA.

Cheryl was a light in this world. She made friends everywhere she went, loved doing hair, enjoyed shopping, and took pride in tending her yard. Above all, her family was her everything.
