Chloe Williams Connella, 79, of Sulphur, LA. was called home by the Lord on April 26, 2017 surrounded by family.

Mrs. Connella made her grand debut on June 26, 1937, in Port Arthur, Texas. She lived most of her life in Sulphur, LA. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1955, where she was chosen as Football Sweetheart and was also a member of the Red Hussars Drum & Bugle Corps. Mrs. Connella continued her education at McNeese State University, Lake Charles, La. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration; minors in English, Communication and Accounting. Chloe then earned a Master’s Degree in Psychology (Sociology), completed with a thesis: A Comparative Analysis of the Connotation of First names in Relation to Self-Confidence.  Along with the above mentioned degrees, she continued to study additional courses and seminars relative to Fair Employment Practice, Communication, Management/Motivation, Journalism, and Federal Accounting. She also earned the titles of Certified Manager, Certified Professional Secretary and Notary Public for the State of Louisiana, Parish of Calcasieu. 

Chloe’s past employment included Office of Women’s Services (State of Louisiana) Electro-Mechanical Training Program, Executive Director/ Counselor/Employment Specialist; Camp/Hunter, et al, Assistant Office Administrator ; Olin Chemicals, Personnel/Industrial Relations Department and editor of Company Publication; IMCAL (Planning Commission), Director of Administrative and Financial Affairs. All the above was located in Sulphur and Lake Charles, LA. Chloe had an early modeling career and was also a book editor. During her career, Mrs. Connella was an active member of American Business Women’s Association- Past President; Delta Sigma Pi; International Professional Business Fraternity; National Federation of Press Women; Calcasieu Executive Secretaries-Past President and Woman of the Year; Desk and Derrick Club of America-Past President; International Management Council-Past Director; Jaycee Women-Initiated formation of Sulphur Chapter and McNeese State University Alumni.

Chloe was known as Mumzie/Mimi by her grandchildren and all the other children that she opened her home to. Chloe enjoyed cooking, crossword puzzles, sewing, collecting beautiful things and drinking coffee with family and friends that were always welcomed. She was a giving person to family, friends and strangers. She always wanted to make life easier for anyone that was in need. She adored her grandchildren, nieces and nephews and was always there for each and every one of them.  All that knew Chloe agreed she was one of a kind and never left the house without looking like she just stepped off the runway.

Mrs. Connella is survived by her companion/husband of 40 years, Dr. Michael Connella III.  Daughter, Kelli L. Barnes, Sulphur, LA and son, Lawson Layne Barnes and wife, Natalie, Spring, TX.; brother, Harold Williams and sister, Gay Williams DeHart; grandchildren Jacob Garrison, Kaleb Garrison (Candace), Addie Garrison, Auston Barnes and Blake Barnes. She is also survived by step-daughters, Susan Amundson and spouse and Anne Serdy; step-grandsons, Kacy Broussard, Ben Serdy, Drew Amundson and Nick Amundson. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Preceding Mrs. Connella in death were her parents, Lawson and Addie Mae Parker Williams and brother Elray Williams.

A service in her honor will be held at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home at 10:00 am on Wednesday, May 3, 2017. Burial will follow at Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-9:00 pm on Tuesday, May 2, 2017at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home with visitation continuing on Wednesday, May 3 at 9 am until time of the service. Pallbearers are Jacob Garrison, Kaleb Garrison, Auston Barnes, Blake Barnes, Addie Garrison and Darrell DeHart. Honorary Pallbearers are Ben Serdy, Drew Amundson, and Nick Amundson.
