Clarence Janies, 92, of Sulphur passed away on October 24, 2016 in the SWLA Veterans Home in Jennings. Clarence was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Sulphur. Clarence proudly served his country in the US Navy serving in the Pacific Theater during WW II. He worked and retired for many years from W.R. Grace. After retirement Clarence enjoyed working with his hands, making gun stocks, canes, and building bird houses. He loved fishing, hunting, and was an avid Sulphur Tors fan. Clarence is survived by his three sons, Rick Janies and wife Susan, Ronald “Ron” Janies all of Sulphur and Rodney Janies and wife Joan of San Diego, CA; 6 grandchildren, Amy Byrd and husband Joshua, Sarah Broussard and husband Art, Adam Janies, Tina Matte and husband Jonathan, Derek Hart, and Levi Janies; 11 great grandchildren, Orin, Sydnee, Avree, Emmy, Asher, Trace, Darby, Kinley, Parker, Brooklyn, and Drew; his sister, Lessie Welch of Oakdale; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Imogene Janies; his grandson, Clancy Janies; his twin great grandsons of Amy and Joshua Byrd; his parents, Aduse and Armenia Bellard Janies; his brothers, Ovey and Allen; his sister, Hazel and his niece, Diana Lay. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 28, 2016 at 10 A.M. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Hamilton Cemetery in Grant, LA under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 27, 2016 from 5-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Visitation will continue on Friday, October 28, from 8 A.M. until time of the service. Pallbearers will be Adam Janies, Joshua Byrd, Orin Byrd, Art Broussard, Jonathan Matte, Drew Allain, Donald Welch, Parker Janies, and honorary, Derek Hart.
