Clyde Adam Richard, 79, of Lake Charles, passed away peacefully at his home on October 2, 2025.
Born on November 18, 1945, in Welsh, Louisiana, to Louis and Izil Morine Richard, Clyde grew up with strong roots in family and faith. He was a proud graduate of Fenton High School. Shortly after, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served honorably during the Vietnam War. His service was a source of quiet pride and deep respect from all who knew him.
Clyde made Lake Charles his home in 1970, where he built both a career and a life filled with purpose. He worked diligently as a Traffic Control Specialist for Lake Charles Carbon, later Lake Charles Aluminum, retiring after many years of dedicated service.
A man of faith, Clyde was a longtime member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and, more recently, St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church. He lived out his beliefs not just in word but in action, volunteering at Abraham's Tent to serve the homeless and less fortunate.
Clyde's gentle spirit and playful nature endeared him to many. He had a special love for birds, especially his cherished Blue and Gold Macaws, and he enjoyed the quiet joy of tending to his plants. Above all, he adored his family, especially his nieces and nephews, who brought him great happiness. Known for his jovial personality, upbeat spirit, and unconditional love, Clyde will be remembered as someone who always brought light to those around him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sisters, Sybil Robicheaux and Nettie Simon; his brother, Louis Edmond Richard; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was welcomed into eternal rest by his parents, his sister, Jackie Johnson, and his brother, Russell "Bruce" Richard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 6, 2025, at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church with Msgr. Jace Eskind serving as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 5, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel, 4321 Lake Street, with a rosary recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Monday morning at 9:00 AM until the procession leaves for the church.
Clyde's life was a reflection of faith, kindness, and love. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
