Cody Curtis Magee

Cody Curtis Magee, 32, of Lake Charles passed away at 7:19 AM on Monday, July 30, 2018 in Moss Bluff, LA.

Cody was born on March 24, 1986 in Greenbay, WI where he was a graduate of Bay Port High School. He furthered his education at UW-Milwaukee where he studied creative writing and received a degree in English. He moved to Lake Charles after being awarded a full paid scholarship to McNeese State University with the writing program. Cody received a Master’s Degree in English and was pursuing a second master’s degree while working as a teaching assistant at McNeese.

He was a vivacious reader and loved music amongst being a writer, husband, father, and author signature enthusiast.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Morgan Magee of Lake Charles; son, Ezra Doucet of Lake Charles; parents, Kathi and Jerry Simonis of Longmont, CO and Keith and Sandy Magee of Oconto Falls, WI; brother, Travis Magee (Jessie Clark) of Greenbay, WI; and mother-in-law, Angela Doucet Hillman of Lake Charles.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Anthony Magee and father-in-law, Blaine Doucet.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 3, 2018 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Tony Bourque will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 1:00 PM and continue until the start of the service.
