Conrad was a devoted husband, father, and friend, and one of the kindest, most even-tempered men you could ever meet. He lived a life full of adventure. Early on, he purchased a camper, and for more than 40 years he and his family took every opportunity to travel. He and his wife also loved square dancing, spending countless years traveling with a group of close friends. Throughout his life, Conrad enjoyed participating in bowling leagues-including during his time in the U.S. Air Force while stationed in the Philippines.
A true outdoorsman, he loved fishing and spending time on the water. He was also a lifelong learner with an endless curiosity. Conrad mastered many trades over the years, including locksmithing, upholstery, and woodworking-if it could be learned, he was determined to do it.
Conrad met the love of his life, Elizabeth Jean Bult, at a dance at the VFW. From that moment on, they were inseparable. He adored her, cherished their life together, and deeply loved his family.
He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era, traveling the world for eight years. After his military service, Conrad continued his commitment to excellence through his long career at Conoco, where he served as a top operator.
He is survived by his children Tammy Murchison (Danny), Christopher Butts (Christy), and Robert "Doug" Butts; his grandchildren Tiffany Fakes (Jonathan), David Butts (Joslyn), and Jessie Butts; and his great-grandchildren Colton, Cobie, and Cooper Butts. He is also survived by his sisters Betty Ruth Bult and Judy Guthrie, and his brother Terry Butts.
Conrad is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 42 years, Elizabeth Jean Bult Butts; his parents Conrad and Rena Butts; and his brother James Allen "Beau" Butts.
