Cora Lee Gutzman Dickson

January 8, 1926 — January 15, 2016

Cora Lee “Mammie” Gutzman Dickson was born on January 8, 1926 in Severance, Kansas and entered into heaven on January 15, 2016 at the age of 90.

 

Cora was the first of five children born to Leo and Alice Gutzman, who preceded her in death, along with her sister, Letha Hollywood; brother-in-law, Frank Hollywood; and sister-in-law, Louise Gutzman.

 

She is survived by her four children, Jacquelyn Autrey (Bill); Adonis Charles Dickson (Cindy), Sterling Charles Dickson (Debbie), and Dimitrios Charles Dickson (Janet); grandchildren, Kimberly K. Crowe (Gary), Scott Autrey (Imelda), Christopher Dickson (Melissa), Alexandra Schexnyder (Ben), Ryan Dickson, Sean Dickson, and Alexander Dickson; great-grandchildren, Andrew Crowe, Sydney Crowe, and Lauren Autrey; siblings, Hughie Gutzman, Richard Gutzman (Louise) and Carol Oncken (Bill); and a multitude of beloved nieces and nephews that were so special to her.

 

Cora was blessed with a large loving family and parents that knew no end to their care and devotion to their children and grandchildren. She loved fishing and was a Pinochle player extraordinaire, always up for a game with her family. She retired after thirty-seven years in the grocery business in Houston, Texas and moved to Lake Charles in 2001 to be near her sons and grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church and attended services at Saint John Lutheran Church. Cora was much loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her, she will forever be in our hearts till we see her again.

 

Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at St. John Lutheran Church. Pastor Charles Miller will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Monday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and continue on Tuesday at the church from 12:00 PM until the start of the service.

 

Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
