Craig S. Fontenot, 55, of Lake Charles passed away unexpectedly at 5:45 PM on Monday, July 14, 2025 in a local hospital.
Born on October 14, 1969, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Craig was a lifelong resident of the city he proudly called home. A graduate of Barbe High School where he played football, Craig went on to attend McNeese State University before earning his degree in Drafting and Design from SOWELA Technical Community College. For several decades, he was a Draftsman-Senior Project Coordinator for The Levingston Group, where his skill, precision, and work ethic left a lasting impact. He attended St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church.
Outside of work, Craig found his greatest joy in the outdoors. He had a lifelong passion for Corvettes, and he loved fishing, boating, and traveling - especially alongside his beloved wife. Together, they shared many adventures and made cherished memories.
Craig's unique sense of humor and unfiltered remarks made every conversation unforgettable.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife, Leslie Harrington Fontenot; daughter, Gabrielle Fontenot; step sons, Bradley Materne (Amy Jo) and Blake Harrington (Brailee); his mother, Keitha Fontenot; sister, Donna English (Bart); grandchildren, Ava Ison and Emersyn Jo Materne; niece, Layna English; Godson, Greyson Garcia; his beloved Frenchie babies, Louie, Joey, and Roux; and several aunts, uncles, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Fontenot and a Frenchie, Bentley.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, July 19, 2025 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel with Monsignor Jace Eskind officiating. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 11:00 AM and continue until the start of the service with a 1:00 PM rosary being recited.
