Curley Joseph Myers, born in Lacassine on March 16, 1940, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, November 20, 2023. He was 83.
A graduate of Lacassine High School, Curley was employed with Carpenters Local 953 and was a construction supervisor for Charles Miller Construction. He was of the Catholic faith. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, camping, gardening, raising chickens, training horses and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Deanne Myers; parents, Sidney and Wilma (Hebert) Myers; sisters, JoAnne Myers, Margaret Patterson, Sandy Deshotel; mother of his children, Anna Jenese Myers.
Survivors are his; children, Terry Myers (Karen), Guy Myers (Connee), Michelle Whitfield (Steve), Lisa Fruge (Sean), Laura Myers, Amy Broussard (Damus), and Jason Reed (Cylyce); siblings, Kenneth Myers (Diane), James Myers (Sherill), Patsy Monceaux, Katherine Benoit (Edgar), and Barbara Reber; 15 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 10 a.m., Rev. Roland Vaughn, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Lorrain DeRouen Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation begins on Friday in the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday from 8 a.m. until the time of service. Pallbearers assisting in his service are Todd Myers, Seth Myers, Lane Fruge, Greg Freeman, Logan Daigle, Reece Daigle, Bryce Reed, and Bruks Reed. Honorary pallbearers are Darian Broussard, Jeremy Benoit, and Kyle Hebert.
The family would like to give special thanks to Veronica Fontenot, Dr. Jason Langhofer, Dominique Chapman, Dr. Edward Bergon, and the 8th floor nursing staff of Lake Charles Memorial Hospital for the loving care they gave Curley.
