Dale Theobald Guidry "I Have Fought The Good Fight"

Grand Coteau, LA ~ Dale Theobald Guidry passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 5, 2018. Dale was born June 30, 1960 to Preston J. Guidry, Sr. and Vivian Landry Guidry.

His journey began with his stroke in September of 2008 and then returned to Lake Charles, LA to live with his sister Regina Guidry during his recovery. After his recovery he moved back to the Sunset area where he grew up so he could be closer to his mom and re-connect with many old friends.

Dale worked most recently for Shop Rite on University in Carencro. Prior to this he worked for Derek Malone Enterprises in Fort Worth, TX doing a job he truly loved in sales and working with the public. He could tell you the names of any landscape flower or plant there is. Dale’s greatest accomplishment was his twenty-seven (27) of Sobriety! He inspired and helped many to overcome their addiction.

Dale is survived by his sisters, Jeanora Guidry Thibodeaux and her husband Ewell of Duson, Regina Guidry of Lake Charles, Vivian “Cutsi” Guidry of Carencro, Katina Guidry of Church Point, Sue Castille and her husband John Abby of Lafayette and Priscilla Cain of Lafayette. Dale is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Emily Conques Guidry and Theobald Guidry; maternal grandparents, Regina Moran Landry and Harold “Coon” Landry; his father Preston J. Guidry, Sr. and mother Vivian Landry Guidry; his brothers, Darryl Guidry and Preston “Sonny” Guidry, Jr. and a sister, Jolynda Guidry Boyer Comeaux.

Visitation for Dale will be at Johnson & Brown Funeral Home in Iowa, LA on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Music will be provided by Brenda and Charles Manuel. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. by members of Christ the King Catholic Church, Lake Charles, LA.

A gathering of friends will be held from 9 to 11 and funeral mass to follow on, Friday, May 11, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Grand Coteau, LA. The Rev. Fr.Gary Schexnayder will officiate the services. Dale’s dear friends, Crystal Derouen, Julie Martin Russo and Tyler Bellard will be the Lectors.

Regina Guidry will deliver the Eulogy. Gift bearers will be his nephew Nicholas Thibodeaux and his wife Misti, and great nieces Emily Marceaux and Lilly Thibodeaux.

Music will be provided by Charlotte Jagneaux accompanied by Phyllis Simar.
Dales wishes were to be cremated and his ashes and those of his precious “Boo Boo” to be entombed with his father and mother in Grand Coteau, LA. His remains will be carried to his final resting place by his sister, Regina Guidry who was with him every step of his ten (10) year journey. Dale is now in the arms of God where he is finally resting peacefully.

At the family request in lieu of, flowers monetary donations may be made to Regina Guidry personally or mailed to 2935 Royal Avenue, Lake Charles, LA 70607 for medical and funeral expenses and/or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or charity of choice.
