Dallas Paul Fontenot

Dallas Paul Fontenot, 83, of Lake Charles, passed away Friday, September 25, 2026 at a local healthcare facility surrounded by his family.

Mr. Fontenot, affectionately known by his family as "Nickey", was born in Klondike, LA, raised in Lake Arthur and lived most of his life in Lake Charles.

He began his career as a small engine mechanic at Henry’s Mowers before going to work for Harlow's Lawn Mowers. After fifty years in the small engine industry, he retired with a wealth of experience and countless friends made throughout the years. An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Fontenot enjoyed hunting and could often be found fishing the Calcasieu River, Lacassine Refuge, local ponds, or anywhere he knew the fish were biting. He also enjoyed mowing and working in his yard. He loved classic French music and, during his younger years, dancing. He never met a stranger and enjoyed his daily drives into Lake Charles, always curious to see what he might see and who he might meet along the way. His greatest joy, however, was his family and the closeness they shared. He looked forward to family gatherings, especially those centered around his barbecue and a house full of family during the holidays. Mr. Fontenot was a longtime member of the Catholic faith and served as an altar boy at St. Henry Catholic Church. He will be remembered for his love of family, his enjoyment outdoors, and the many friendships he made throughout his life.

He leaves to honor his memory, his wife of fifty-six years, Judy Meaux Fontenot; five children, Robbie Fontenot, Rocky Fontenot (Mae), Bellina Fontenot (Tony Broussard), Jarod Fontenot (Heather) and Cory Fontenot (Tressa Primeaux), all of Lake Charles; ten grandchildren, Devin Fontenot (Shelby), Kennedy Mergenthaler (Andrew), Kyleigh Fontenot, Kayla Andreasen (Zachary), Dylan Hesse, Brittany Baumery (Cameron), Malerie Orlando (Justin), Taylor Fontenot, Megan Fleming (Chase) and Rory Fontenot; twelve great- grandchildren; sister-in-law, Pam Woods (Jimmie) of Lacassine; nieces and nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Fontenot and Etta Benoit Fontenot; sister, Mary Jane Fontenot; grandson, Ben Lindeman and great granddaughter, Mia Baumery.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Monday, September 28, 2026 in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. Reverend Weldon Bares will officiate. Interment services will follow at Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Sunday will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM and will resume Monday from 8:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.

Serving as his pallbearers will be, Cameron Baumery, Reath Chauvin, Cohen LaCour, Collin Miller, Glenn Miller and Jimmie Woods.

Mr. Fontenot’s family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to Dr. Jody George, Amber Cooper of Harbor Hospice and the nurses and staff for their excellent care, kindness and compassion throughout this difficult journey.
