Damon Shawn Long, son of Janice Long, born September 6, 1974, passed away Monday, January 22, 2018, at the age of 43
Damon was a guitarist for Southdown and dearly loved his band members. He had a great passion for music and enjoyed teaching others how to play guitar. “He is now an angel not a human being. I promise it will be okay.”
Damon worked offshore for many years. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends.
His survivors include his mother, Janice Long of Lake Charles; uncles, Robert Lynn “Bob” Long and wife Juanita of Moss Bluff, Ti Richard of Jennings, Jerry Benoit of Lake Charles; aunts, Joan Long of Tucson and Peggy Long of Lake Charles; godchildren, Jakob Cobucci and Ava DesLatte’; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Robert A. Long; maternal grandmother, Viola Duplechain; step grandfather, Alfred Duplechain; aunts, Jackie Benoit and Gayle Richard.
A Celebration of Life will be Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 8 p.m. in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home – Iowa, with Jimmy Trahan officiating. Gathering of family and friends is Tuesday in the funeral home from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson & Brown Funeral Home – Iowa.
