Daniel Lee Duhon, 74, of Moss Bluff passed away at 2:32 AM on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 in a care facility in Welsh, LA.
Daniel is a native of Lake Charles, Louisiana born in Kaplan, LA, to Danry and Renola Duhon. He graduated in 1963 from Marion High School. While at Marion he set a state record in the Broad Jump at 19’ – 2” for the Marion High School Track and Field Team. After graduating high school Daniel joined the U.S. Naval Division 8-25 (M) where he served aboard the U.S.S. Yorktown Aircraft Carrier. During the Vietnam War, Daniel served as an assault boat Coxswain. During his tour of Duty he was issued a Certificate of Merit for pulling two naval pilots from the ocean that had been shot down off the coast of North Vietnam.
Daniel worked in the oilfield business for most of his life, which gave him the opportunity to travel.
In 1984 Daniel was diagnosed with PXE, a very rare blood disorder that led his doctors to believe that he would only have two years to live, but 33 years later, by the grace of God and shear determination, Daniel proved them all wrong. He has endured great pain and a strong will to live. Daniel was very strong willed and extremely independent and did things on his own way. Daniel walked to the beat of his own drum.
