Danny Lynn Elkins

Danny Lynn Elkins, age 79, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2024. He was born on Febuary16, 1945, in Elizabeth, Louisiana, to Thomas Homer Elkins and Mary Hazel Gueringer Elkins.

Danny was an avid outdoorsman who loved spending time hunting and fishing. He was a true craftsman who could build and create anything. He could often be found in his workshop, tinkering and developing new ways to make life easier around his property.

Danny proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After his return, he went on to partner with his brother in purchasing a sawmill, where he continued to build his legacy of hard work and dedication.

Danny had a deep love for his dog, Jersey, who brought him much joy. He will be remembered as a loving and loyal person who cherished his family, friends, and his country.

Danny is survived by his nieces and nephews, Rebecca Elkins, Joan Harrison (Tim), Diane Elkins, Charles Roaten, and his dear friend and caregiver, Jeremy Berry. He is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 28 years, Sharon Lee Harveson Elkins, his brother Tommy Elkins (Betty Anne), and his sister Shirley Dale Roaten (Tommy).

Danny’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Harbor Hospice for the care and compassion they provided during his final days.

A graveside service to honor Danny’s life will be held at Prien Memorial Park in Lake Charles, Louisiana, on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 10:00 AM.
