SFC Shelor Daniel “Danny” Sharp, Retired US Army Reserve, 72, of Kinder, LA, died at 6:30 AM on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 in a local hospital.
Danny was born November 9, 1944 in Lake Charles, LA and was a 1964 graduate of Fenton High School. He worked as a mechanic most of his life and retired from the U.S. National Guard after twenty-nine years of service. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, working in his shop or yard and rebuilding things.
Danny is survived by his children, Tina M. Andrus and husband Tootie of Sulphur, Tammy Denise Hatley and husband Michael of Kansas and Klint D. Sharp of Lake Charles, LA; sisters, Dolores Brand and husband Dan of Sulphur, LA, Claudia Bourgeois and husband Rollo of Iowa, LA and Sarah Fruge and husband Darin of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Troy Grice and wife Stephanie, Lacey Andrus, Whitney Hatley, Brad Andrus and wife Amber and Mandy Pierce and husband Will; and great-grandchild, Kaden Wilburn, Jayce West, Cameron Paige Pierce, Liam Pierce, Camren Andrus and Tatum Andrus.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Langley Sharp; parents, Wyatt and Eula Augustine Sharp; and siblings, Artie Sharp and Maude Johnice.
His funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, November 18, 2016 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Fenton, LA. Father Rojo will officiate. Burial will follow in LeBleu Cemetery in Fenton, LA. A visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Remembrance service at 6:00 PM.
