Darbina Hanks

Darbina Kay Hanks, 61, went to be with the lord on Dec 31, 2025. Darbina, beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, was born on Aug 3, 1964, in Bremerhaven, Germany. where her dad served with the US Air Force, and later moved to Frankfurt, Germany. She later traveled with her family while her dad served in the Air Force. They traveled to Japan, Hawaii, Texas, the Republic of the Philippines, and then to North Dakota, where, after his retirement in June of 1980, they moved back to Lake Charles. She attended Dolby Elem School, then attended Glad Tidings Christian Academy, where she graduated. After graduating, she held different jobs in the Lake Charles area. She later married Christopher Robin Smith, who later became a Sheriff's Deputy. He served in the West Calcasieu Parish for many years, and while on a domestic disturbance call, was severely injured in a surprise assault. Unable to resume unrestricted duty, he was medically retired. He died on Dec 15, 2003.

She is survived by her daughter, Chelsea Lemen of Lake Charles, grandchildren, Destiny, Kia, Serenity, Samantha, and Penelope. Dad and stepmother, Ted and Judy Triche of Lake Charles. Along with her sisters, Shannon Dicks, Carla Richie, and Timothy Myers, along with nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles, and friends.

A memorial service in honor of Darbina will take place on January 23, 2026 at 3:00pm at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles.Visitation will begin at 1:00pm and last until the start of the service.
