Darrell Wayne “Bro” Fruge, Sr. 62, of Lake Charles passed away, Tuesday, January 08, 2019 in his residence.
Mr. Fruge was born in Jennings, La and grew up in Iowa and lived in Lake Charles most of his life. Darrell worked for Lake Charles Music for many years, but his true love was as a musician in the Fruge Family Band. Bro, as he was most known by, was a bass guitarist and grew up playing music in the Lake Charles area. Through all of his life the most outstanding trait was his generosity and grateful nature. He was always willing to help others at the drop of a hat, even strangers.
He is survived by his mother, Leola Benoit Fruge; four sons, Darrell Wayne Fruge, Jr. and wife Nicole, Kurt Barry Fruge, Colby Ryan Fruge, and Landon Ray Fruge; two daughters, Kourtney Arlene Fruge and Emily Faith Fruge; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Ronald Joseph Fruge, Clinton Eugene Fruge and wife Tammy, and Dudley Joseph Fruge II and wife Ellen; three sisters, Karen “K.J.” Smith and husband Curt, Ramona Gail Conner, and Pamela Faye Shuff and husband Neal.
He was preceeded in death by his father Dudley Joseph Fruge, his brother-in-law Roger Conner, and grandparents on his mother and father’s side.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 11, 2019 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lacassine. Reverend Samuel Orsot will officiate. Burial will be in Lacassine Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Thursday, with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 PM and from 9:00 AM until 10:15 AM, Friday in the funeral home.
A Celebration of Bro’s Life will be held at a soon to be announced date.
