David Russell Buller

September 16, 1948 — September 6, 2017

Iowa ~ David Russell Buller was born September 16, 1948 in Lake Charles, the son of the late Charlie and Mary Lee Buller, and passed away September 6, 2017 in Lake Charles.

David was a graduate of Fenton High School, Tarleton State University and received his masters from McNeese State University. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during Vietnam and was wounded in action. He was president of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association and member of Jeff Davis School Board. David was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Lake Charles, where he served as a Deacon. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and most of all, showing people the love of Jesus Christ.

He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Andrew Buller, Jewel Burks, Margie Palmer and Charlie Buller.

Left to cherish his wonderful memory are his wife of 49 years, Victoria “Vickie” Buller; daughter, Sarah Lyn Preda and husband, Stephen of Fairfield, Ohio; 2 grandsons, Matthew and David Preda; brothers, Clyde Buller and wife, Ellie; Richard “Dick” Buller; sister, Barbara Inez Savant.

Services celebrating his life will be in Trinity Baptist Church ~ North Venue of Lake Charles, Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Steve James officiating. Burial will follow in Hebert Cemetery with military honors under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home. Visitation is Saturday in Trinity Baptist Church ~ North Venue, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Pallbearers assisting in his service are Russ Sutherland, Mike Oakley, Clarence Caesar, David Nunez, Keith Leger and Dwight Primeaux.
Following the burial in Hebert Cemetery, friends are invited to fellowship at David’s home located at 23359 Highway 383, Iowa.

We want to thank his nephew Ernie Savant who served us faithfully throughout David’s needy times. Thank you to Jonas, Jamie, Jana, Jean Hatfield and Shari Matt. Thank you to our family and friends for helping us so very much during the last two years. We are sending special prayers for the many medical staff members and a special thanks to the Veteran’s Administration.
May you all be blessed by God through our Savior Jesus the Christ.
