David Glenn Chambers, 69, of Lake Charles passed away at 12:13 PM on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 in a Lafayette hospital.
Born on June 5, 1955, in Lorain, Ohio, Mr. Chambers was raised in the Indian Village/Kinder area, where he was a graduate of Kinder High School.
In 1980, he moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana, where he met the love of his life and built a lasting home filled with love, laughter, and friendship. He dedicated many years of service as a professional driver, working with companies such as Groendyke Transport, Conoco, Harrah’s Casino, L’Auberge Casino Resort, Calcasieu Parish School Board, and ultimately retiring as a bus driver for the City of Lake Charles.
He also served in the reserves for the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Department, always ready to lend a hand in support of his community.
An avid motorcycle enthusiast, he was a proud member of the Harley Owners Group (HOG) Lake Charles Chapter 1686. His greatest passion was riding his motorcycle, a love that brought him both peace and excitement. He found joy in fishing and caring for his lawn and the lawn of many others in the community.
He will be remembered for his infectious, friendly smile and his willingness to help others at any time.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of nearly 44 years, Marjie Chambers; children. Angela Guth (Bryan) and Craig Worley (Janice); siblings, Faye Arabie (Mitch), Cornell “Adam” Chambers, and Clara Fontenot (Hamon); brother in law, Ronnie Carrier; sisters-in law, Liz Chambers and Donna Chambers; and beloved grandchildren, Cole and Luke Pierson and Jaxon and Mya Worley. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Ruth Chambers and siblings, Gayle Carrier, Don Chambers, Frank Chambers, Becky Corbello, and Cecil Chambers.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 16, 2025 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel. The Rev. Jeremy Smith will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 9:00 AM and continue until the start of the service.
