David Stewart Dondis

David Stewart Dondis, 59, of Lafayette died December 19, 2017 at his residence.

David was born to Jullian and Sallie Long Dondis. He lived the majority of his life at Pinecrest Developmental Center in Pineville, Louisiana. His last years were spent at LARC in Lafayette. David was a very outgoing peson and loved people. He always maintained a “happy go lucky” attitude. He also loved music and dancing and participating in Special Olympics, especially bowling and golf.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. W.S. Long and Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Dondis. He is survived by his mother, Sallie Dondis; sister, Elizabeth Ann Dondis; brothers Nathan Dondis (Carrie), and Joel Dondis (Grechen); nephews, Jackson Dondis and Andrew Dondis and niece Hailey Dondis.

Visitation will be on Wednesday December 27, 2017 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Johnson Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with the Rev. Frances “Boo” Kay officiating.

The family would like to thank the staff at LARC for his excellent care as well as Denise Faul of Amedisys Hospice of Lafayette and a special thank you to Chaplain Jody Blanchard.
