Deanna Daw, 76, passed away peacefully at home on May 31, 2026, surrounded by those who loved her most.
Deanna spent many years as a childcare provider in DeQuincy, Louisiana, where she touched the lives of countless children and families. She was especially known for helping single mothers by providing loving and affordable childcare. Her caring heart, generous spirit, and willingness to help anyone in need made a lasting impact on her community.
While she loved and cared for many throughout her life, her greatest joy was her granddaughter, Emmie Jo. Being "MawMaw" was one of her greatest blessings. She cherished every moment spent with Emmie and lovingly cared for her for many years, always supporting her daughter whenever she was needed. The bond they shared was truly special and brought Deanna immeasurable happiness.
Deanna's laughter was infectious and could brighten any room. She loved to laugh and had a gift for bringing joy to those around her. She also found great happiness in giving to others. If she saw something that reminded her of someone she loved, she never hesitated to buy it for them. Her kindness, generosity, and thoughtfulness were gifts she shared freely with everyone around her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Daw; her mother, Blondell Daw; and her brother, Eddie Daw.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Lacie Touchet and husband Adam; her beloved granddaughter, Emmie Jo; her lifelong friend and former husband, Joe Pentecost, and his wife Charlotte; along with many extended family members, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by her love and kindness.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff and caregivers at Harbor Hospice for the compassionate care, kindness, and dignity they provided during Deanna's final days. The work they do is not a light burden to bear, and their love and support brought great comfort to Deanna and her family during this difficult time.
Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds great peace in knowing that she is now in the arms of Jesus. Her legacy of love, laughter, generosity, and selfless service will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
