Deborah Gaye Dorris-Smith

May 19, 1959 — November 6, 2016

Deborah Dorris-Smith, 57, of Sulphur, LA, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2016 in a local hospital.

Deborah was born on May 19, 1959, in San Angelo, TX to Daniel Judson Dorris and Betty Lou Landers. She was raised in the San Angelo and Port Lavaca, TX areas. She has lived in the Lake Charles area for many years and attended McNeese State University. Deborah was a lady of many talents while working as a paramedic for several years, a casino dealer, construction worker, and was the owner of a window washing company. She even used her artistic talent to carve eggs which are currently displayed in different Ripley’s Believe It or Not museums. She had a great sense of humor, always seeing the glass as half full, and always seeing the good in people. She cherished her relationship with her children and loved them dearly.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Jason Dorris and wife Beverly of Westlake, Devin Smith and girlfriend Angel Foster of Sulphur, and Treasure Smith of Sulphur; two brothers, David Dorris and wife Donna of Cuero, TX, and Stephen Dorris of Port Lavaca, TX; grand-children Deborah Dorris and Andrew Gibson; as well as her very good friend Vicky O’Quain.

Deborah was preceded in death by her parents.
