Debra Ann Marie Dugar Simien, 72, of Lake Charles passed away at 10:25 PM on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
Mrs. Simien was born on November 9, 1952 in Lafayette. She moved to Houston with her family before settling in Lake Charles to raise her own children.
A woman of unwavering faith, Mrs. Simien was an ordained minister and dedicated her life to lifting others through prayer, especially interceding for the sick and those in need of spiritual healing. Her words were filled with grace and strength, always encouraging, always positive-speaking life and hope into all who crossed her path.
Mrs. Simien truly embraced life with joy and purpose. A lover of adventure, she especially enjoyed traveling-never happier than when setting sail on a cruise ship. Water brought peace to her soul and she simply enjoyed its calming presence.
An artist at heart, Mrs. Simien found great delight in painting, expressing beauty and spirit through every brushstroke. But nothing brought more fulfillment than time spent with family. Whether during holidays, casual gatherings, or quiet moments, she cherished each memory made with loved ones.
With a heart full of compassion and arms always open to give, she lived a life that inspired, uplifted, and healed. Her loving and caring spirit will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the lives she touched.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Derrick Declouiet and Hope Marico Victorian; brothers, Lonnie Martin Dugar and Terry John Dugar; and her beloved grandchildren, Marcus Ashton Declouiet, Jordan Ezekeil and Drelyn Elijah Guillory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Antee Ledet Dugar and Joseph L. Dugar.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 7, 2025 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel. Pastor Jerry Snider will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 10:00 AM until the start of the service with a rosary being recited at 10:30 AM. The family wishes to invite you all to join them for a repass at Mrs. Simien's favorite restaurant to eat at, Pat's of Henderson.
