Della Mae Duplechin

Della Mae Fontenot Duplechin, 70, died on Thursday, July 16, 2026, in Sulphur, LA. She was a native of Mamou, Louisiana, and has been a resident of Sulphur for the last 30 years. She was a member of Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church. Della enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her brother, Wesley Joseph Fontenot, Jr. of Pirates Cove; her sisters, Dawana L. Trahan and Phyllis Smith of Sulphur; her daughters, Jamie Jackson and husband, Steve and Rachel Griffin; grandchildren, Kelsey Meaux, Katherine Meaux, Wesley Meaux and Michelle Pipps; also 5 great grandchildren; Maw’s babies, Chace Richard, Grayson Sims, Reed Ray, Quinn Michelle-Ann, T-Tom, Mykah, Cuoz, Gracie, Mercie, and Baylor; and her fur baby, Lucille Ball. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Wilfred Meaux and Paul Duplechin; her dad, Wesley Joseph Fontenot, Sr; her mom, Mary Mae Touchet; sisters, Barbara Fontenot and Dianna Amason; brothers, Stephen Fontenot and Wayne Fontenot; godparents, Herman Fontenot and Rita Fontenot; daughters, Bridget and Latisha, and Tammy Meaux; grandsons, Cody Meaux and Brayden Griffin.

Funeral services for Della will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church in Sulphur. The family will receive guests from 10:00 AM until 12:30 PM on Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur. Burial will follow at Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur.

Pallbearers will be Cuoz Matt, Michael Sims, Chace Richard, Grayson Sims, Dayton Sims, and Wesley Meaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Richard, Blayde, Conor and Alister.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Johnson Funeral Home for expenses.
