Della Louise Thibodeaux

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Della Louise Thibodeaux, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, who departed this life peacefully on December 4, 2025, at the age of 97. Born on July 19, 1928, in Welsh, Louisiana, Della was a cherished member of her community and a guiding light in the lives of her family and friends. 

Della graduated from Lacassine High School in 1945 and dedicated her career to education as a teacher's aide at Lacassine High School. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering support touched countless students and colleagues alike, embodying the values of compassion and commitment that she held dear. 

A devoted member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lacassine, Della remained steadfast in her faith throughout her life. She found joy in simple pleasures, including reading, completing crossword puzzles, watching game shows, and watching the birds that flocked to her yard. She was a devoted mother to her sons, Rodney "R.J." Thibodeaux, Jr. (Diane) and Russell Thibodeaux (Kathy), and a loving sister to Genevieve LeBlanc. Della's legacy also lives on through her eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish the memories created with her. 

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Della's life during the following services: A Funeral Service will be held at Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa on December 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM. A public viewing will take place at Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa on December 7, 2025, beginning at 5:00 PM, followed by a Rosary at 6:30 PM. There will be an additional public viewing on December 8, 2025, starting at 9:00 AM. 

Following the services, Della will be laid to rest in Lacassine Cemetery, where her spirit will continue to shine in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. 

In this time of sorrow, we remember a remarkable woman whose warmth and kindness will be profoundly missed. Della Louise Thibodeaux's life was a testament to love, family, and community, and she will always hold a special place in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. 

Della was preceded in death by her parents, George and Dora LeLeaux,; her husband, Rodney Thibodeaux, Sr., and her daughter, Patricia Sheridan.
