Dena Helen Oliver Brannon

November 17, 1924 — March 10, 2013

Dena Helen Oliver Brannon, 88, of Apache Junction, AZ passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013 in the comfort of her home.


Mrs. Brannon was born, raised and educated in Arkansas and lived forty years in Lake Charles. She has lived the past seven years in Arizona. Mrs. Brannon worked her younger years as a Licensed Beautician, having owned her own Salon in Conway, AR. She attained a Nurses Aide and LPN License at Sowela Technical Institute and worked for Holly Hill Nursing Home and retired after ten years from Moss Regional Hospital. Mrs. Brannon enjoyed flower gardening and especially loved cooking for family gatherings after church on Sunday. She was a member of 12th Street Baptist Church.


Mrs. Brannon will be most remembered for her morning setting of coffee, coffee cake and her bible. She was a loving and nurturing woman whom took great pride in her family.


She leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters, Janet Navarre and husband Ed of Surprise, AZ, Cheryl Cooper and husband Arthur of Lake Charles and Karin Fontenot of Apache Junction, AZ; four grand-children, Dena Brown and husband Paul of Lake Charles, Sabrina Colquette and husband Jesse of Azle, TX, Mayah DeVillier and husband Jeremy of Moss Bluff, and Tonia McConnell and husband Glenn of Mesa, AZ; five great-grandchildren, Erica and Hannah Brown, Laurel McConnell, and Brannan and Lily DeVillier.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, James Brannon; great-grandson, Keegan DeVillier; two brothers and four sisters.


Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, March 15, 2013 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Don Johnson will officiate. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation Thursday will be from 2:00 PM until 10:00 PM and will continue Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
