Denise Foret Collett, 69, of Lake Charles, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 28, 2025 surrounded by those she loved so much.
Denise was a loving, passionate, driven and fearless force of nature in all the lives she touched, which were too many to count. She was never a coward, always a hero. She was always conscious of what words mean and of their impact on the heart. She was loyal to a fault, giving beyond measure. She loved her children and her grandchildren and her family and friends with great protection and guidance. She gave with everything she had, always giving the benefit of the doubt and asking for nothing in return. Her faith was central to her life. Her love for God was prevalent in her daily life. Her great love for nursing was taught to many at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital where she was employed for 42 years and the impact she had was immeasurable. She was awarded The Daisy Lifetime Achievement Award for Nursing in 2021. She not only heard you, but she also truly listened.
The world won’t be as bright without her but the lights of her life, her children and Grandchildren will carry her light forward.
Denise is survived by her children, Jacob Collett and her daughter, Catherine Haese, (Mike), 4 grandchildren Tyler, Harper, Emily and Gus; her siblings, Gerald (Lisa), Charlene, (Mark) and David (Kim) and multiple nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Gerald and Catherine Foret.
