Denise Elizabeth Suarez

On June 10th 1948, Denise Elizabeth Moylan Suarez was born in Waratah, New South Wales, Australia to Brian Augustine Moylan and Aileen Mary Moylan. Denise grew up curating her sewing and design skills and basking on the beach while watching her brother Michael surf. There, she could display her latest bathing suit that she had altered. Later, Denise gained a baby brother, Adam, to love and cherish.

During the Vietnam War, U.S. service members would take R. and R. in Australia. As fate would have it, Denise would arrive at the USO dance one night and meet a young soldier named Ronny Suarez from Louisiana. Neither were supposed to be there that very night, and yet, they were. Ronny “had to talk to her” as she looked “like a beautiful Indian princess” with her jet-black hair. They spent 3 romantic days together and knew that they were meant to be – so did Aileen. Ronny left and went back to war. They would correspond through letters until one day Ronny asked her to come to America. At some point, Denise wins the Australian lottery ($4,000 at the time) and has enough money for a plane ticket and a wedding dress. She was destined to embark on an adventure that would change her life.

They married on November 29,1969. Denise had three children: Robert, Judd, and Mandy. Throughout her life, Denise loved to sew, crochet, knit, bake, arrange flowers, garden, attend mass, boss people around, and love on her family. She worked at Kroger for years as a cashier and florist. Everyone there knew “Mrs. Denise”. Denise was an integral member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Altar Society, Ultreya, Legion of Mary, New Life Counseling, RCIA, and various other groups. As a grandmother, she found the sweetest joy in spending time with her grandchildren having tea parties, fashion shows, craft nights, and sleepovers. Denise was fiercely passionate about her faith and church. She adored the prayer garden and was instrumental in the construction of the mountain. She established the Prayer Blanket Ministry to pray and sew blankets for people in need. There, she found one of her greatest ministries. Everyone who loves her has a prayer blanket they cherish. Denise was an incredibly strong willed, blunt, independent, and deeply loving woman. She will be greatly missed by all of Lasalette Parish and of course by her family and friends.

Denise was preceded in death by Brian and Ailleen Moylan; husband, Ronny; son, Judd; brother, Michael and Gail Moylan; nephew, Mark Moylan; and other special loved ones. She is survived by her children, Mandy and Stoney Martin; Tristan, Josee, and Boudreaux Martin; Mia, Jacob, and Will Hassien; Jeanalee (Greyson Christian), Bella, Alysa, Preston, Timber, and Lettie Martin; Robert and Kristy Suarez; Raygan Suarez (Allison Mussleman), Kathryn Suarez, Ryan and Alicia Denison, Ross Denison; Katy, Brandt, Clancy Suarez; brother Adam and Renee Moylan. Nieces Michelle Scobie, Stephanie Leblanc, Kristy Thibodeaux, and Charlotte Moylan. Nephews Ted, Barry, and Garry Bergeron, and Derrick Suarez. Brother-in-laws Richard and Kim Suarez. Her cousin Lyn Moylan. Other special people in her life Joe and Devon Young, and Kim Arizmendi.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 11 AM at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church with Father Ron Foshage, M.S. and Father Andrews Kollannoor, M.S. officiating. Burial will follow at Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur from 4-8 PM with a rosary prayed at 6 PM followed by a Cursillo rosary at 6:30 PM. Visitation is to resume on Thursday from 8 AM until time to leave for the church.
