Dennis Miller, Jr., 87, of Lake Charles passed away in his residence on February 4, 2017.
Visitation will be held at Johnson’s Funeral Home on February 5, 2017, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 4:00 p.m. and from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 6, 2017. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery. Father Matthew Cormier will officiate.
Dennis was born in Iota, Louisiana, on July 10, 1929, to Dennis Miller, Sr., and Odelia Romain Miller. He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Marjorie Bertrand and Carolyn Chapman.
Dennis spent his early years employed on seismic exploration crews for Gulf Oil company. He went to work for the Coca Cola Bottling Company in Lake Charles on October 10, 1957, as a route deliveryman, moved into outside sales and eventually was promoted to plant manager before his retirement in September, 1993. After retirement, he worked as a bailiff for the Lake Charles Marshall’s Office for thirteen years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed cooking bar-b-ques for family and friends and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 67 years, Maudry Rita Ardoin Miller, two daughters, Diann Miller Westbrook (Michael P.) of Sulphur and Sandra Miller Ange (Casey P.) of Lake Charles, five grandchildren, Brady Allen Westbrook, Ryan Scott Dennis Westbrook, Paul Henry Westbrook, Crystal Dawn Ange East and Casey Pete Ange, III, seven great grandchildren, Isabella Grace East, Anna Sophia East, Cecilia Claire East, Reagan Elizabeth Westbrook, Cameron Scott Westbrook, Sylvia Jacqueline Westbrook and Henry Miller Westbrook.
Pallbearers are Todd Ardoin, Walter V. Denton, Jr., Andy McLachlan, Brady and Paul Westbrook and Casey P. Ange, III.
He was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church and a past member of the Lake Charles Kiwanis Club.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Becnel, Dawn and Lisa of Christus St. Patrick Hospice and to Veronica Fontenot for her care and kindness.
