DeWana "Dee" Elter

DeWana, “Dee” Mary Elter, 87, of Lake Charles, passed away on Friday May 16, 2025, at a local care facility following a lengthily illness.

Dee was a native of Elton and a longtime resident of Lake Charles. She retired from Calcasieu Marine National Bank after many years of service to the Lake Charles Community. She was also a longtime volunteer with Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, having spent a lot of time with the Family Life Center.

Preceding Dee in death are her parents, Elza James and Minnie Pearl Marcantel Clement and her son, Chad William Elter. She leaves to honor and cherish her memories, her beloved husband of 64 years, Charles William Elter, Lake Charles; grandsons, Davis Clark Elter and Henry William Elter, both of Lafayette; siblings, Arden (Betty) Clement, Kinder; Rena Fuselier, Jennings; Veronica (Leland) Sonnier, Lafayette as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family of the heart.

A gathering of family a friends will be on Friday May 23, 2025 at the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM with a Rosary to be recited at 12:30 PM. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Friday May 23, 2025 at the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles with Monsignor Danny Torres officiating. Entombment will follow at Consolata Cemetery.
