Dolores Ann Miller Guidry, 91, of Lake Charles passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2025 in the comfort of her home.
Mrs. Guidry was born in Church Point, LA, raised and educated in Jennings and lived most of her life in Lake Charles. She worked many of her younger years as a shampoo and set girl at Jean’s and Adeline’s Beauty Parlor’s. She later, alongside her husband, ran Mama’s Fried Chicken and a couple Cafés on Broad Street. Her greatest achievement was raising five children to be self- sufficient. Mrs. Guidry was a fantastic cook and immaculate housekeeper and taught each of her children to be the same as well as outdoor upkeep from lawncare to mechanics. She enjoyed the outdoors, flower and vegetable gardening, crabbing, fishing, running trout lines and camping. She loved listening to French music and putting on her dancing shoes for a night out dancing and especially loved shopping countless garage sales, estate sales and thrift stores. A lady of faith, she attended St. Henry Catholic Church and St. Margaret Catholic Church as long as she was able. Mrs. Guidry will be remembered for her kind heart and welcoming spirit, always opening her door to friends and family and often provided a “healing home” to care for those who needed until they were well.
She leaves to cherish her memory, five children, Dianna LaCombe of Ragley, Debora LaCombe-McCasland (Charles) of McKinney, TX, Jacquelyne LaCombe Pence, Bryan LaCombe and Jamie LaCombe (Laurie), all of Lake Charles; ten grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one sister, Annette Miller of Youngsville; many nieces and nephews and her lifelong dear friend, Merzie Menard of Lake Charles.
She was preceded in death by parents, Adam and Ava Gary Miller; one brother, Lawrence Miller; four sisters, Laura and Laurice Miller, Beulah Bellard and Dorothy Daigle and her former husband, father of her children, Elray Joseph LaCombe.
